This is the community I wish existed when I first became a parent.
Back then, I spent hours upon hours scrolling, desperately searching for the perfect activity to keep my daughter entertained, going to the shops to buy everything I needed to recreate that activity, and spending nap time setting up the picture-perfect activity I'd seen on someone's blog. Just to see my daughter to spend a grand total of 1.64 minutes playing before wandering off to find the next thing to play with.
It was exhausting and frustrating, seeing the hours I spent preparing activities enjoyed for only a minute or two.
But everything changed when we moved to a tiny, remote town 9 hours away from our friends and family, where the nearest Kmart was a four-hour drive away. Popping to the shops wasn't an option anymore - I had to work with what we already had.
That's when I discovered the magic of simplicity. Things like egg cartons, pegs, pom poms, measuring cups and boxes out of the recycling became the building blocks of creative and engaging play.
No fuss. No endless shopping lists.
Just play.
I created the Simply Play Together community because I wanted parents to have what I didn't in those first years of parenthood: easy to access play ideas that used what you already had at home, and to see more play *without* hours of scrolling, thinking and over-preparing.
But I also wanted parents to have what I *did* already have an as Early Childhood teacher: an understanding of the fundamentals of play and child development, to better understand how your child plays and how you can use play to support their development.

I’m a mum of three, an early years teacher and play advocate - and for the past eight years I've been on a mission to help mums easily inject more play into every day!
The early days of my parenting journey saw me feeling overwhelmed as I tried to provide play activity after play activity for my kids to keep them busy all day.
